Where the words have gone I don’t know,
When I think of all we've done,
I remember those conversations,
That carried on through the night,
Across waters, in the cover of daylight,
They were memories of moments,
I will not forget,
I hope you will not forget.
I am in the dark now, with you gone,
Waiting patiently for the rising sun.
You are to me, like a body to a shadow,
Often I have sought your advice,
Often we reminisced about life,
You are a friend, You are more,
I will not forget,
I hope you will not forget.
I am a man of many mistakes,
I am the ravaged shore, that breaks,
When wave upon wave of thoughts fill my mind,
I speak first and regret in time,
And though your silence feels like an awkward spell,
I sit hopeful, with a penny,
Beside a wishing well.
I will not forget,
I hope you will not forget.
